Ennis and the Cliffs of Moher
Ennis
Our tour started in Ennis, County Clare. Although we had planned to arrive a day before the tour orientation, due to flight delays, we were cutting it close.
We took a convenient bus ride from the airport in Shannon to Ennis, arriving blocks from our darling accommodation, the Old Ground Hotel. With about 45 minutes to spare, we had just enough time to revive ourselves with coffee and pastries at The Well, a hip cafe across the street.

This quick diversion saved us from showing up tired and hangry (hungry + angry), which certainly would have broken a core tour policy: No Grumps!
Fueled and energized, we set off for the Cliffs of Moher.

The Cliffs of Moher
Even as the bus left the hotel, we still could hardly believe that we'd made it in time. As we drove, our guide tempered our expectations, reminding us of the frequent fog and rain that can obscure the cliffs. When we departed the bus we found the luck of the Irish was truly on our side as we arrived to a beautiful, sunny day at this world renowned sight. It was so sunny that it was hard to see to take photos!

The rest of the day was spent getting to know our group at a welcome dinner. Our tour guide recommended a local pub, just walking distance from our hotel. We may have had just four hours of sleep in the last 48, but who was counting! Of course we wandered to the pub and got our first Guinness. The next morning we would start the day bright and early, getting on the road to Dingle in County Kerry.
